Visitor documents needed to enter St. Croix Passports are not required to enter St. Croix if you are a U.S. citizen, however, a passport (or birth certificate with photo I.D.) is required upon leaving because the island is considered a Port of Entry to the mainland United States.
Even if you are a United States citizen, it is recommended that you travel with your passport, as it is the easiest document to present wherever you go. However, because St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John are a United States territory, it is NOT REQUIRED that you have a passport when traveling here. If you are not a U.S. Citizen, then a Passport issued by your country of origin is required for entry.
Any questions can be directed to the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization office in St. Thomas at (340)774-4279.
Special Travel Needs for St. Croix visitors There are many businesses, activities and accommodations that cater to guests with special needs. Since Christiansted is a historic town, and the sidewalks can be challenging and uneven, we suggest taking a taxi or renting a car on the island.
Island Transportation on St. Croix A valid U.S. drivers license is usually all that is needed to drive. Just remember… driving is on the left in St. Croix. You must be 25 to rent a car on the island.
There is public transportation but you’ll need to leave plenty of time to get to your destination, as buses make frequent stops. Taxis are also available.
